A good number of people believe that you can only get amazing curls on your hair using a curling iron. They do not believe that it is possible to get great and amazing curls using a hair straightener. This is probably as because as the name suggests, the best hair straightener is mainly used to straighten the hair and not for curls. It is however possible to get curls using a hair straightener. The process needs some practice and patience but once you get the hang of it, you will have a very easy time curling your hair.

The following steps will help you know how to curl your hair using hair straightener.

The first thing you need to do is ensure that your hair is completely dry. This is because wet hair will not be able to curl using this method and neither will damp hair. You need a straightener that is about 2 inches in width. This is because a flat hair straightener will not give you the best results and you will not be able to curl the hair with ease.

You need to use minimum level of heat to achieve the best results. If you have very fine hair however, it is advisable to lower the heat to avoid any damage. The only time to increase the heat if you have fine hair is if the hair appears to be frizzy. Before you start using the straightener on your hair, it is very important to apply a heat protectant to your hair. This is important because it acts as a protection from burns and any other kind of heat damage. After applying the heat protectant, make sure to comb through the hair in order to ensure the protectant is uniformly spread throughout your hair.

Once this is done, you can start curling your hair. There are two ways you can do this. You can either do curls or flicks. When doing the curl method, you will need to start close to the scalp. You should however be very careful not to burn your scalp with the straightener. Clamp the iron onto the hair and make a half turn with it. Do this moving down to the end of the hair section you are working on. If you want the curls to be more defined, you will have to move thee iron slowly. For less defined curls, move the straightener a bit faster. The flick method is similar to the curl method. The difference is that you start at the middle of the hair shaft. Once the iron is clamped, create a u shape with the iron by turning it back on itself. Repeat this up and down the hair shaft to get the flicks.

In conclusion, using a hair straightener to curl your hair is not a difficult task, you only need to know how to rotate the straightener onto the hair. You can experiment with different directions as well as half and full turns to see which results you like more.
